A impromptu release for Mother's Day <3
This song was written as a bit of a "I'll show you!". My Mom had commented my previous musical uploads this Spring have sounded 'sad', so this tune was an exercise to write 'happy'. In my defence, calling the musical examples (see Instagram) sad is a bit of a cop out. It's like calling turquoise, bluey-green - or calling quilts, blankets ;)
I find myself in a chapter where I'm looking to refine, reinvent and reform my musical bag of tricks. The process has required some mining of 'sad' sounds to discovery emotionally rich, juxtaposing harmonies. You'll hear an example of this harmony device on the last chord of the main theme.
Clay is both a malleable or rigid material based on its state. It is capable of being shaped and reformed by a sculptor and obtains its meaning based on the vessel it is used for. This song is a tribute to Mothers, the sculptors of humans :)
