about

For this years anthology album, I've curated six of my favourite solo acoustic tunes. These songs were all written at the cottage, usually on a holiday or long weekend. Each song is also written for my daughter Maeve.

Ladybug (October 9th): I wrote this briefly over the same autumn weekend as House of Dreams. Maeve was in a phase of investigating little critters like bugs and ants, herself being a cute little ladybug. She also wears a ladybug themed winter jacket.

The Swing (August 28th): I wrote this while she was playing with her grandparents (Nanny & GB) during a summer retreat. My dad built a horse-shaped swing that hangs outside over the deck. Laughter and fun faded into a sleepy lullaby as she rocked to herself into a nap.

Happy Dance (July 1st): I remember getting to the cottage and Maeve being so energized, full of smiles and laughter. She was wearing a shirt that day that said something along the lines of "this is my happy dance".

Nimbus (December 25th, 2022): I technically wrote this last Christmas. The minor quality of tune may subconsciously represent the fact we got hit by a major snowstorm and lost power. The song is titled after Maeve's sled we named Nimbus.

Good Morning Ghosts (September 6th): I do my best writing in the morning with a fresh coffee. Maeve had a phase of waving hello in the direction of nobody, like she was saying good morning to ghosts.

House of Dreams (October 8th): Maeve's favourite movie at the time was Disney's Encanto - a family blessed with superpowers and magical house. I wanted to capture the colour of the trees through harmonic motion.
